Who Can Help Homeowners?

By Kristy Sinsara

The economy has really caused a great deal of problems for many- not the least of which, the mortgage industry has been seeing such a dramatic down turn in recent years, causing so many to lose their homes. This has been one of the most difficult areas for people to navigate.

It's very difficult to find information on this issue, and many people believe that they have no options, no way out of losing their homes and falling down, financially. There are many answers out there, but these answers are not usually as readily available as they should be. Banks are tight lipped when it comes to these solutions, but there may be a way to find help. Enter Kristy Sinsara, of the Consumer Advocacy Group.

"The biggest thing that the Consumer Advocacy Group does," says President Kristy Sinsara, "is educate." Many who have not ever heard of the group do not realize that there are even those out there who want to help. The Consumer Advocacy Group feels very passionately about helping those who have been hardest hit by the suffering housing market- those who have worked hard to buy a home.

The group feels that the more knowledge someone has, the better, and the core of everything is to enable people to understand that all hope is not lost and they do have some options. Being able to find those options in a complex maze of paperwork at an already stressing time can be hard, and this is one of the things CAG helps people to do.

The Consumer Advocacy Group is not a mortgage modification company, nor do they engage in the sort of tactics that end up costing consumers money rather than helping them. They work tirelessly and passionately to not only educate the people about their rights and their options, but also work towards changing the existing system.

Often, these losses can be avoided in simply knowing the options- and this is a big part of the group's mission. However, the Consumer Advocacy Group also lobbies actively to see changes in the system that will better benefit the consumers as a whole, rather than the large banks and companies.

The Consumer Advocacy Group is also dedicated to a sort of circle of hope. Much of the work done is nonprofit, but there's more to it than that. Through the program, many find a great deal of education and benefit from the assistance of the group but also, give back to their own communities. One of the programs involves giving either time or donations to local charities and being able to make a difference in the lives of others as well as getting back on their own feet.

One of the programs that the group has, offers free workshops and often personal counseling to people in return for either donations or time spent volunteering for local charitable organizations. In this, there is a sort of complete circle of community giving that is rather inspiring. Not only does this bring a great deal of hope to those that are helped by the Consumer Advocacy Group, but it also brings a better level of hope and togetherness for the community on the whole. - 30229
